Autumn in Austin is so inspiring!

There is something about the cooler weather, hats, & scarves that just calls out to me. I love creating fall recipes and coming up with new menu ideas for this season. I think part of it is that the moment the cooler weather comes (at least in Texas since we don’t get fall weather until November!) you know that the holiday season is just around the corner. And those festivities are some of my favorite! We are working on so many different ideas and recipes it is hard to keep up with them all. Macaron ideas are overwhelming our minds! The kitchen crew, headed up by Audrey, is busy preparing for a fun season.

In the next few months you will start seeing a regular new menu item that is named after the chef in the kitchen who created it. Hand in hand with this, we are also going to be introducing our customers to our awesome kitchen staff. We forget that without our kitchen being onsite, our customers don’t get a chance to interact with the people who create and make our products everyday. We hope to change that over the next few months.

Toasted Almond Wins!

I’d like to say that the competition was fierce. But Toasted Almond started the day strongly and never looked back. Despite valiant efforts from the other flavors to try and catch up, there was no stopping Toasting Almond. It ended the day strongly on top.

4th place: PB & J
5th place: Raspberry Mojito!

Macaron Day – March 20

We are so proud to be leading the Maracon Day charge here in Austin. Originating from the guru of the macaron, Pierre Herme, in Paris, the Macaron Day fever quickly spread to New York. And now La Pâtisserie will be celebrating the sweet-filled day in true Austin style.

Swing past the shop on Sunday to sample the 5 finalists in our “Choose Your Own Flavor” contest. The winner will be the Flavor of the Month for April!

We have had so many people ask us about serving lunch and while it was definitely always part of the plan, we thought we would wait until June/July before we started it. But, as luck would have it we share a kitchen with Jackie of Letelier Food Company. We are joining forced to give you delicious lunch options. And the best part is that they will be made using all local ingredients and change seasonally! This will begin on February 8th and we are so excited about it! We look forward to having people come in for a coffee and sweet and hanging out through lunch. Jackie’s expertise in creating delicious seasonal lunch options pair perfectly with our brioche bread and croissants. We hope to see you in for lunch soon!

New Year New Flavors

We love that we can be creative and have an outlet for it. Right now we are busy in the kitchen coming up with some new creations we are excited about rolling out in February. Just to get those tastebuds watering- a few teasers: Balsamic Vinegar Basil Macarons, Chocolate Tarts, Mixed Fruit Galettes.

In the new year we are also hoping to start a breakfast delivery program. How great would it be to wake up on a Saturday or Sunday morning and walk outside to collect the fresh croissants and coffee that is sitting on your doorstep?! I love the idea of having dinner delivered and find it puzzling that no one has done that with breakfast. We will keep you posted on the details!!

Thank you to everyone who made our first week of business so fun! We had such a great time meeting everyone. There is such a great feel to the Bouldin Neighborhood. There was a morning where our 3 main rooms tables were all taken by neighbors and everyone was just chatting away and catching up. This is just like Cheers!

We are working hard and fast to get macarons made so that we can have all the flavors in stock for your orders.

I’m not sure which analogy is more appropriate. But I felt like a kid in a candy store, or a kid on the night before Christmas. After 20 years and a painstaking 5 months, the dream had finally become a reality and the doors of La Pâtisserie have opened.
